The InterContinental Hotels Group, one of the largest hotel companies worldwide, has announced that it would ban small bathroom bottles from all of their properties by the end of 2021. This will mean a shift to larger-sized bulk bottles across almost 843,000 guest rooms. IHG states that currently, an average of 200 million small bathroom bottles are in use across all properties worldwide. Already today, some of the IHG-hotels offer bulk-sized toiletries, such as the brand Six Senses and Kimpton.
The initiative follows IHG’s commitments to ban plastic straws in their properties by the end of 2019.
