The international hotel chain Marriott announced this week that they will phase out single-use plastic bottles in its more than 7,000 properties by December 2020. The small bottles will be replaced by larger pump-dispensers. Already now, about 20% of Marriott’s properties, have made the shift to the more eco-friendly alternative.
The announcement is part of Marriott’s large-scale initiative called ‘Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction’ in which the hotel chain commits to a range of sustainability goals. Besides reducing plastic waste, one of Marriott’s goals is also to responsibly source its top 10 product purchase categories – including guest room amenities.
