The world has a problem with plastic waste. Plastic pollutes the environment, takes decades or longer to decompose and after decomposition, microplastic further worsens the problem. Only 9% of plastic globally is recycled. The hospitality industry has long been contributing to the problem. Statistics show that one hotel guest generates about 1kg (2lb) of waste on average per night.

However, awareness is on the rise. Booking.com finds in one of their studies that 86% of travellers are willing to spend some time on activities that offset the environmental impact of their stay. And a study conducted by TUI, shows that 57% of consumers would book a more environmentally responsible holiday if they were more readily available.

Elementura enables hotels, SPAs and airlines to reduce their impact on the environment. Our team works continuously to offer the most eco-friendly options while placing importance on guest experience and affordability.

We design our products with the hotel guest in mind and we always challenge the status quo. This is why we take materials, production methods, user experience and how the products will be disposed of into account.

Our most important guiding principle is that we use sustainable and natural materials wherever possible. Our goal is to reduce the need for plastic in as many of the items in hotel guest rooms as possible. One example of materials we use is bamboo. It grows at a high rate, needs little water, requires no artificial fertilizers and is naturally antibacterial. Similarly, we make sure that the paper packaging we use needs no bleaching and is either from sustainable sources or recycled. We continuously innovate to provide solutions that serve the environment and hotel guests.

While eco-friendly solutions are welcome by most hotels, price is often a concern. And we do not want to hide that fact that eco-friendly products are often not as cheap as plastic-based ones. We always keep in mind that affordability is key and design our products in a way that they come at fair prices.

Elementura serves small and large customers alike. Whether it is a hotel with 10 rooms or a large hotel chain, we strive to serve all requirements. While our initial focus is on larger customized orders, we are excited to offer a new standard offering starting from spring 2020. Stock products will then be available for a broader range of products to serve orders of any size. We are based in Germany but supply within the EU and world wide as requested.

If you are looking to make your hotel, SPA or airline more sustainable, we are looking forward to hearing from you!
